My adult ducks and drakes sound completely different so I’m wondering if duckling males and females make different sounds when they’re babies. Most sources on the internet say to wait until they reach adulthood before males and females can be distinguished by the curl in the back of a male's tail and when females start to lay eggs. But what about their calls as ducklings? My adult drake makes a raspy hissing sound, while my ducks quack. Can I listen closely to the calls of my little ducklings and be able to tell their sex?
