Canadians check in here....

Hi. I live in Washington state and will be traveling over the border via car to Canada to see an Avian vet for my hen's reproductive issues.
In researching requirements to get INTO Canada, then RETURNING to US, I am so confused.
Between the Canadian CFIA, and US CDC and USDA websites I'm so unsure.
Can you let me know if you all have traveled cross border through a crossing? What was required? Is it simply a certificate of good health from a vet?

I've never brought a pet cross-border, but I believe that yes, a certificate of health is required and, depending on species, perhaps vaccinations. Speak to the vet about it, and perhaps contact your border station?

Sorry I couldn't be any more help!

Trent Lakes neighbors the Kawartha Lakes to the east. We basically live five minutes from Bobcaygeon. We are getting a "brown egg layer mix" from Frey's Hatchery. They offer, Red sex link, Black Sex link, Columbian Rock X, Red X, Barred Plymouth Rock, Rhode Island Red. So we aren't exactly sure what we will be getting but will know in two days..
Can i ask what you received? I'm also getting the mystery brown egg layer in April - liked the idea of a surprise. Just wondering what breeds you ended up with?

I live in the Georgian Bay area of Ontario, Canada, and I'm trying to buy chickens but have encountered some issues with breeders. I'm reaching out to see if anyone knows of a local breeder or is a breeder themselves.

Alternatively, I’m open to splitting an order with someone. Due to minimum order requirements, I can’t order a variety of breeds, as I can only have a small flock of six chickens. Most breeds won’t allow shipping in such small quantities.

If anyone has space in their coop and is looking for new chickens, I would appreciate considering combining our orders to help us bypass these minimums.

In summary, I need assistance in purchasing chickens and would be grateful for any help. Thank you!
