Candled my 11 day old Narrgansett eggs...

Please keep us (me) updated, this is my first hatch. I broke down and candled them about an hour ago. Looked like one was internally pipping but hard to tell, saw movement in that egg and one other not so on the other 3. Temp is 98.2 and humidity is about 74%

Candled mine too... All are moving but no internal pips.. Candled the goose eggs, one is pushing up against the air cell... Temps are between 98.7 - 99.5 Humidity at 72% 3 pm today marks day 29..........

I just received my first Narragansett eggs in the post yesterday morning, so they've been sitting upright on a shelf until they settle down and come to room temperature. I candled them very gently as soon as I got them, and from what I could tell, all but one have their air cells in place, and that one has its air cell on the side, although still near the top, so it may attach at some point.

This will be not only my first time incubating turkey eggs, but also my first with shipped eggs. I've hatched out ducks before, often with 100% hatch rate, and I just hatched out 16 live and rambunctious chicks from refrigerated eggs (had 18 going into the final week, so not too bad of a turnout). But for some reason I am REALLY nervous about hatching out turkey eggs. I so desperately want/need for this to be a successful hatch and I don't want to mess it up. Any advice for getting a successful hatch out of turkey eggs that have been shipped half way across the country?

Tonight was a really rough night, poults are two days behind, no movement ect. Opened an egg to find a still alive underdeveloped poult. Just sick to my stomach, I dispatched it within seconds. One of the hardest and saddest things I've ever had to be the cause of. I hunt and fish, this was so hard. Sorry little guy . I'm methodical, did count day one until 24 hours had passed, watched my temps and humidity like a madman. Four weeks of effort, and a lost life. My first attempt at hatching. Devastated. Why would they not show movement at day 30? Im 37 a mans man, been sobbing for an hour, I can't believe this.

I think I have one of those too but I don't want to open it...Tomorrow at 3 pm marks day 30...I see movement in 7/7 turkey eggs and movement in 5/5 goose eggs...2 of the turkey eggs as of an hour ago are pushing up into the aircell as are 3 of the goose eggs... along with one of the turkey eggs one of the goose eggs also shows slow development but its still alive.. Don't know if I could open them up..

Im so sorry

Don't! Let them go! I'll update this thread, the poult tonight looked 2-3 days away. I got a PM from somebody that hatched their eggs (turkeys) at day 35, they had low temp in their incubator. Been watching mine like a hawk if anything I thought my temps were high. Praying the 4 others (all look the same as the one I opened, and one was moving tonight) will at least make it. I have 20 more in the better and new incubator and 14 in the hens natural nest without a broody yet. So stressful, going to bury tonights chick where he was laid, for respect.

I think this has been my problem all along... I have a still air and it seems the last two hatches have been this way...I have a borrowed forced air that is on day 20... those air cells are right where they should be so I will be adding a fan to mine before I attempt to hatch again.

leaving them alone in hopes all works out... 4 of the goose eggs are still rocking and rolling and several of the turkey eggs...

Candled eggs at 3pm today...day 30... movement in 6/7 of the turkey eggs, one egg was cold very soon after removing it from the bator.. candled, no movement and it was the one that was really moving last night... decided to go ahead and open it up.. dead... Fully formed, 75% of the yolk sack was absorbed, head stuck under its wing, barely any beak poking out..... Now I'm really worried about the others...I just walked out of the room and shut the door... To heartbreaking!! To come this far, to see them moving and rocking the whole egg to this...

At this stage, I would be afraid to be candling or touching the eggs, or even opening the incubator if I could see any of the eggs rocking or could hear peeps, for fear of losing humidity and possibly making it impossible for them to hatch. I do so hope the rest of them hatch all out for you.

when I candle during lock down its to look for that internal pip so I can raise humidity.. Some folks raise it as instructed some don't, I knew mine were running a few days behind so I was allowing them to catch up, the humidity in the bator was the room humidity so I didn't worry about that.. And that's the one good thing about my incubator, it does regain the heat pretty quick, just have to monitor it for a few min.

This was very discouraging and I have since got the humidity level up and now will just let them be to do or not what they will, its just so sad to watch them go from moving to not.. I'll give them til Friday and see what we shall see... The geese are still rocking as are most of the turkeys.
