candy canes and animals

I have some peppermint candy canes from last year and neither my companion or myself are eatting sweets this year.

I have burros, goats and a llama, is it ok to feed them the candy canes? Will the peppermint makes them sick?

I'm sure it'd be fine for all. I buy my horse her own candy canes every year. She *LOVES* them.

Horses usually like candy like that, so I'm sure it should be fine in small amounts! Really, it's nothing more than sugar and peppermint flavoring!

A mare named Fay at the rescue center I volunteer at (REF) just loves the peppermints. My boy Aiden? He thinks he REALLY wants them. Then after he takes three chews, he'll shake his head, make funny faces, and sling peppermint shards everywhere - including all over me.

Oh well, I still love my "baby".
