Cardinal Christmas Quilt

Thanks sunrise.
Here is the photos of the old Cardinals in the Cabin quilt I made in 1999. Kinda faded now though. It usually stays on our bed Nov through Feb.

Thanks Mandy. I bet you could quilt. There are a lot of free patterns on the internet nowadays. Some are very easy. The first quilt I made was for my dd when she was about 5 yrs old. It was just basic squares of kitty cat fabric sewed together. She is cat crazy

Ya gotta start somewhere lol. I still am not any expert. I wish I could get the hang of those paper piecing quilts like a Mariner's Compass or something neat like I've seen others here on BYC doing. I just don't understand it all that much.

The quilts are beautiful. I love cardinals and we don't have them here in CA so everytime I go back east and get as far as OK I start looking for them. We were in NC in Oct. and saw plenty there. I hope you get to make one for yourself. You're like me, always doing for others.

These quilts are gorgeous! How did I miss this thread? You and Speckledhen are so fast on these large quilts. It takes me forever to make a lap quilt. I also have a sunbonnet Sue small quilt that I finally finished 10 years later!!

Hi thank you. I am not near as prolific as Speckled Hen is lol. It took me a long time to do these and I still have another one (the poinsettia cardinal one I was making for myself) that is still not done LOL! I have a yoyo quilt with different shades of blues that I made all the yoyos for about 7 years ago and then put them in a huge ziplock bag and still haven't done anything with them haha. I think sometimes things just have to sit awhile until you get motivated again to do them lol.

I think you're right. The key word there is motivation. I have two tops that need to go in my frame for handquilting that I planned to work on during the winter and I haven't started a one. I hand pieced the tops so need to hand quilt. Yet, I just atarted on the new log cabin quilt for my granddaughter with no problem. I had a quilt that took me 20 years to finish. I'm trying not to be that slow again though.

Very beautiful!! I bought all the materials to make my grandmother a cat theme quilt, about 3 1/2 years ago. Needless to say- I haven't done to much with it. Still trying to figure that out as well as crotcheing!
