I'm a bit perplexed as my pullets rarely will eat the veggies I through to them but will eat up all meats, I'd rather they ate more veggie than meat but it doesn't seem the case. Any suggestions???

Protein, especially animal protein will almost always be a choice pick to chickens. It's just how they are. Nothing to worry about nor is there much you can do about it other than stop giving them meat, but why would you want to do that?! Another idea is they may be waiting for more meat...since you've notice they prefer meat, have you tossed them more meat after they failed to eat the veggies quickly enough? If so, you may have trained them to wait for the meat.

Our chickens will eat most veggies we offer, though some are gone in minutes and others take days. Most animal protein is usually gone in seconds.

We've also all been marketed to from grocery store eggs as "all vegetarian fed", as if that was natural for chickens. It's not...they're omnivores.

Right on pdirt, sounds logical and I will just carry on then as they look great and lay sweet eggs, thanks for your knowledge.

X 2 - chickens are, by nature, omnivores and LOVE some good animal protein.

I have to laugh at the "all natural veggie diet" claims of certain poultry producers

Yeah, ya gotta think, if they are "only veggie chicken" so to speak then they must be caged as all they want the most is to peck n scratch for bugs (aka) protien., and veggie only then isn't so good.

Hey there

I also have a good chuckle at "all vegetarian fed chickens" and can only assume that 'all vegetarian fed' actually means the person feeding them is vegetarian or they are fed vegetarians!

I reckon you would be hard pushed to find a chicken (even a caged one) that has not eaten a bug or 'protein on the move' of some description

Don't worry about them. they love animal proteins, so give it to them.
Meat is not very good for humans, it gives them heart attacks and bowel cancer. chickens die for other reasons, actually grains and animal proteins could be better for them than veggies, as wheat and proteins keep them warm at night
