CHAINSAWS Big Boys Toys.

ok them pictures will do, that is one mean looking saw and what a massive piece of wood on your splitter on page one. i'll be sending you some eggs but it will be spring. i'm getting abuot a dozen eggs a day but no dark ones have not got one in a month. maybe i could hatch you some and send them i've never shipped eggs or chicks but i could try. other people do it. my wife used to live in Spokane WA. [ spelling?] they also lived in northern Cali and her grandpa logged red woods that were culled by the gov't ofcourse. they have some awesome pics, one tree section to a railroad cart. i could maybe post some of these if your interested. chicken rustler you have a good day.

fatboys I have seen logs like you are talking about. We have a local logging competition (Morton loggers Jubilee) and some of the logging companys would enter a truck with a one log load. I would love to see some of your pics.
Can you imagine packing that saw around the woods all day, no thanks!!

I am not sure but I don't think you (as a private person) can ship live chicks but I know you can ship eggs. It works best for me if this doesn't happen right away as I have to come up with an incubator. I am so eggscited to get some of your eggs but if I don't have a bator by the time you are ready to ship I will bow out and you can give to someone else or what ever you want to do.
Thanks Rob

Well here is something some might enjoy AND MAYBE SOME WILL LEARN FROM. After the wind storm early monday I saw that the neighbors were out on the road cutting one of thier fir trees that fell and took out the power. PUD had just been there and put the lines back up so that was safe. But when I get there the fool neighbors have 2 tiny saws with 16" bars and are trying to cut this tree. One guys saw was so dull that the smoke was just rolling off the chain as he tried to burn his way through the log. Me being the smart *** that I tend to be I told him "I think ya would be better off to just lock the chain brake and see saw back and forth.

Here is the scary part. They started cutting from the top and were planning to go all the way to the stump. I finally convinced them that they needed to buck that log off the stump or it will stand back up and could hurt/kill somebody when it does. Since they didn't have enough saw to do that I told em I would get my 044 and at least buck it off the stump for them. When I pulled up with the farm truck I still had the "Mercury" saw in the back and told em there ya go boys there's yer saw have at it!

I cut the log off the stump it took almost all of the 28" bar and sure enough the stump flopped right back over in the hole. I even offered to use the crane on the truck to bring it to the road in sections but they wanted to do it the hard way by cutting blocks and packing them to the road. I am not real fond of these people but hate to see somebody get hurt trying to do things that they know nothing about.

PLEASE people if you have a tree fall and it still has the stump be careful. MOST of the time you can safely limb first but don't try to cut from the top to the stump without cutting it off the stump.

I had forgotten about this thread! Love the chainsaw stories! Guess what DH got me for Christmas? A Stihl 170! I love it!!! Yeah, it's a bit wimpy compared to what you guys talk about but how many women are lucky enough to have their DH buy 'em a chainsaw!!! He said the men in the shop looked at him like he was nuts when he went in and asked for a "ladies chainsaw" (small one)!!! What a guy!

I have a husky 395XPG with a 42" Oregon bar and 3/8 chain and a set of 5 inch dogs. I am now cutting a big 60" black oak into slabs and rings for furniture. I also have several smaller and various brand saws. I love wood and wood working.

Nice to see this thread revived.

NGT ANGL I think what you have is what they use to call an 017 before Stihl changed thier numbering system. They are nice saws. I have an 021 that I really like for pruning trees. I think it is great that the ladies have and know how to use tools like that.

Thanks Chicken Rustler! I was really excited about it! Our primary heat source - by choice - is a woodstove. We have 6 acres and timber some to use as firewood. I would help as much as I could but was limited since we only had the one chainsaw - I would usually use the splitter while he was working on a tree. I made a comment about how much more we could get done if I had my own lighter weight saw - I could be taking limbs off and cutting them into burnable size pieces while he was cutting the bigger trunk. Next thing I know, I have a chainsaw for Christmas!! Gosh but I love power tools!!! And you........a 6' bar........whew but I would like to see that baby in action!!!!

Thanks fatboys farm! I may be a "little dog" in the "big dog" world of chainsaws that you guys have but that doesn't mean I have to "stay on the porch"!!! hummmmm....if I wasn't attached to the NGT ANGL handle (my license plate on my F150 w/36" Parnelli Jones Dirt Grips, Mickey Thompson Classic rims and 6+ inch body lift), I would rename myself HILLBILLYET!!!!
