Stunning eggs, congrats...that's quite the color difference. If her 2nd egg is the one on the right, she's really got the paint jets a going.
Curious to see how much darker they get in the next month

I'm quite pleased! Yes the second egg is the one on the right, 2 days after the first egg.

I'm seriously leaning towards trying a few more Wheaten Marans, 1 cockerel and a couple pullets. Maybe he won't be a douche Thoughts?

I know nothing about the Wheaton variety but I'm a fan of Marans in general (I have a couple..)
If you like them, tho then I say absolutely go for it.
As far as any specific questions like breeding across your other hens maybe, I would ask in the Marans thread.

Edited to add... In my world, I tend to see all my boys are relatively chill, easy to handle and just layed back in general overall.

I know what all my crosses would produce, and appreciate the input on your gentleman I know there are no guarantees with cockerels, I just really don't want a repeat of the last one. I won't do anything until next spring, so I've got some time to think on it. Your feedback means a lot!

So the plot thickens...day before yesterday I got 2 almost identical green eggs, thought maybe I missed onyx's egg the day before, well today the same thing happened. I checked the cameras and Judith was in one of the boxes that had the slightly darker green egg, onyx laid in a different box. So she clearly isn't a blue sexlink/splash marans cross. Onyx's egg is the one on the left. Oh, and we can't forget Cersei's 3rd egg, lovely as can be!
