I am trying to grow some garden huckleberries this year and I was wondering if the plant or berries are toxic to chickens. I was thinking about putting a couple plants near their coop so they could eat some of the falling berries and have some added shade and foliage near them. If the plant itself isn’t toxic I’m thinking it could be an awesome addition inside their run. I’m trying to add some more greenery in there for them to snack on and get more shade from as well.

The plant is. I am not sure about the berries for chickens; they aren't toxic for people.

garden huckleberry is a nightshade, unlike true huckleberry- for anyone else reading this.

I didn't know there was a garden huckleberry. Here real hucks don't grow unless they have exactly what they want at the right elevation, also why the fruit is 90+/gallon. It just can't be cultivated, it pretty much has to be wild at high elevation on the correct side of the mountain and even then the patch may not come back the following year.
