This is not the first time I've had baby birds. But a very long time ago when I had ducklings we used a heat lamp. I no longer have the heat lamp so it is not an option. I have a homemade brooder, a dog kennel with some extra wire around the outside, lined with a trash bag, a good layer of paper shavings and with towels around two sides. It is sat in front of a window that gets a lot of sun and I have a space heater set up next to it. I have a small enclosure thermometer that tells me my space heater heats the brooder sufficiently, and they have space to move away from it if they are to hot. While this may not be ideal, traditional or recommend, is there anything really wrong with the above described setup.
