Chick pecking - cull?

I wouldn't even think of putting her with the other littles again. Not until she is integrated with the bigger birds (if that works) and the current littles are much older. Even then she'd be on my 1 strike and you are out list if she went after them.

Thanks everyone. We ended up culling the chick yesterday. There was something seriously wrong with it, she was making her head bloody by trying to get to the other chicks through the wire and it was stressing me out.

After we culled, the other three chicks seemed WAY more relaxed and have even started coming up to our hands. I believe we made the right decision for our flock. I really appreciate everyone's responses here!

So sorry you had to do that. It sounds like you gave it as many chances as possible but there was just something really off about it, if it was willing to hurt itself just to hurt the other ones.

Thank you rosemarythyme. It wasn't fun but at least I know we can do a cull ourselves if we need to.

I don't suppose culling is ever particularly easy but the first is the hardest even when there is no question that it is the right thing to do. I get the feeling psycho chick wouldn't have ever been a good flock member from all you've said.
