Hi everyone,
Today my chicks hatched and one was had not pipped externally (it is day 21, day 22 in an hour) I was concerned and cracked the egg, simulating the zipping. The chick came out with a marble sized yolk sac still hanging on. I left it and the yolk was fully absorbed 2 hours later. I removed the umbilical cord and everytime it chirps some insides/flesh comes out? Not a lot but it is preventing the hole from closing. The chick is quite active, chirping, moving etc... but everytime it does so the flesh comes out. I need to keep its imsides in to give him a chance at surviving but I am not sure how to without causing more damage. Please help!!

This happened to me once, even without helping him get out and he later died. My guess is that when you helped him get out, he wasn’t finished absorbing the egg yolk. I’m not an expert, but I’d say your best chance is to leave him alone and see if Mother Nature will do its thing.
