warning graphic images below !!!!
my neighbor was inside feeding her young flock with her older flock was roaming the house and two of her chickens were attacked in broad daylight. One of them did not make it but this one is doing good. I have flushed the wound, sprayed it with veticyn, and bandaged the wound everyday. The wound looks like it is healing but I am not sure about the the skin that is turned dark purple almost black. I can not tell if that skin is dying or not and would like some advice on what I should do.
the chicken has been doing good like she wasn’t even injured. She has been laying everyday since the attack, eating, drinking, walking around without limping, and tried to take dust bath when I let her walk around in the backyard for little bit each day. She has been separated into a small coop away from the flock but still has clear view of the other c
The day of the attack
A week since the attack
* the first day I sprayed the surrounding skin around the wound with an anti-bacterial spray that was purple. I stopped using it after I read that it was not good to have coloring on them. The wound was not sprayed with the purple spray.
