I have a 2 yr old Calico Princess that I have successfully treated for a prolapse. I have kept her in the garage away from the others until I knew that she was fully healed. I let her out to roam in the yard with the others today and everything was going well, she stayed right with me. One of the other chickens came from behind and either jumped her or pecked her, I'm not sure which since it happened in just a few seconds. She immediately set down and now she can't use her left leg. She will grip my hand with her right foot, but nothing from the left. She won't put any weight on it, and seems to use her wing a little for balance. I brought her back in and have her in a thick bed of straw. She is still eating and drinking. Could she be paralyzed from this, or is it possible that she will recover? It's heart breaking to see this happen to her. She is such a sweet girl and has already been through so much.

Hiya, and welcome to BYC! :frow

Usually chicken spats don't wind up with broken bones, but I'd put her on some B-Complex that should help her bones and muscles heal better. If you have the human pills, a hen could have about half of one. I say "about", as cutting them straight is impossible. We wound up buying B-Complex liquid, and then it'd be a half of a dropperful. If you're unable to feel anything broken, she might have a really bad sprain and the B-Complex will help.

You could also post this in our Emergency Forum and get some other ideas.

Hopefully, she gets better fast!
