Chicken Broke/Dislocated Wing

it seems to be broken at the joint where it connects to her body or just dislocated. I am leaning on the side of broken since the feathers around that area are pink (like there might have been some blood). I don't know how she might have broken her wing

It's all blue under that skin and kind of bulging out... internal bleeding??

Here are the pink feathers

This is her other wing, it looks pretty normal.
Is the wing broken, or does she have a wound against the body under the wing?

It looks like there's been a bit of bleeding and some scabbing under the wing. Spray down the area with some Saline or diluted Chlorhexidine, trim the feathers away from the wound and take a good look if the wound is on the wing or the body.

Do you have a rooster?

The blue skin looks like blood under the skin and bruising. I just would clean the wound well with chlorhexidene or weak betadine since open wound broken bones can really get infected. Then apply the antibiotic ointment and wrap the wing (not too tight.) Walmart sells both Hibiclens chlorhexidene or Equate First Aid Antiseptic (generic Betadine) in the first aid aisle for under $9.

Yes I have three roosters. I have 30 hens and since I sell hatching eggs and hatch some myself I need roosters.

I will bring her inside and trim some feathers. I can't tell if it's on her body or the wing since there are too many feathers so I'll take a closer look. She drags her wing along with her so I would assume it's broken.

Thank you. I live in a rural area so I can't go to town as often as I want, but I'll pick that up next time I go. Does hydrogen peroxide or saline solution work? I have a little bit of a chicken first aid kit but it has only basic stuff.

Hydrogen peroxide is good for an initial debriding, but it will make the wounds take longer to heal if you keep using it after that. It kills bacteria by making their single-celled bodies swell and explode, but it does that to any cell it makes contact with (which is why you see the whitish margins around wound edges if you use a bunch at once or for a long time). Just adding that 'cuz a lot of people don't know, when I was a kid my family was always constantly cleaning every wound, every bandage change with peroxide cuz we didn't know better. It didn't do any of us permanent harm, I suppose, but we all scarred up more than we would have otherwise!

The cosmetic damage I don't think a chicken would care about, but avoiding a bone infection by trying to get the skin around the wing to heal up ASAP can be pretty important.

Good luck with your chicken, I hope she starts to feel better soon!

Wing is fixed. I brought her inside, trimmed feathers, and saw it was definitely broken. Part of the bone was sticking out. I disinfected it, set the bone, wrapped the wing up and then wrapped the wing to her body. She can't move it anymore. I will check in here when her wing is healed.

Where you able to get anything for pain management? Sorry I haven’t checked in been swamped at work with that ice storm damage.

How is the hen doing Now? It’s been a couple weeks….

No, I don't have any pain meds on hand so she just had to deal with it. She's been somehow getting to high places with just one wing (her other wing is still secured to her body). Yesterday it came loose because the adhesive was not sticky anymore so I replaced the bandage.
