Hi everyone, My wyandotte started limping 2 days ago. I didn’t let them out on the day i found her so i can’t say if she injured herself flying down her roosting bar or if our rooster hurt her but what i thought was just a sprain is starting to scare me because she seems worse now. She was able to hop to drink water when i found her but now it seems like she can barely even keep her balance and is instead just laying down and this sort of wheezing has started. She’ll also start to randomly cry out.

I gave her flockleader 911 in her water and am now cross about to what else to do. Thinking of giving her ibuprofen for the pain as well as vetrx for the wheezing and maybe vitamin e and B complex. There aren’t any vets who specialize in chickens where i live so if anyone can give me any advice or suggestions of what else i could give her Id appreciate it thank you ! :)

Do you have any pictures of her? How old is she? Have you seen any respiratory symptoms before? Are there any injuries, scrapes, swelling, or green bruising on her legs or feet? Can she stand up or walk? Is she being picked on? Look at her lower belly for any swelling under the vent. You may need to separate her in a wire dog crate in the coop with food, water, and bedding. Place her water and food close to her. Chicken sling chairs can be made to help with eating and drinking, and they can be let out of them for periods of rest. Here are some examples:

we dealt with cocci a few months ago but she’s just breathing heavily. I gave her a bath and her vent looks clean her underside isn’t swollen. She is inside, has been since the day i found her limping.

She didn’t want her normal food but she did eat an egg. Her foot doesn’t look swollen, after the bath I’m leaning towards its broken because she refuses to put any weight on it and when i touch it its just limp she can’t even grab my fingers. Oh ! and she’s less than a year old about 10 months old. Her right side also looks puffy I’ve tried to find an scratches or anything because our rooster did try to get on top of her when I went to get her but haven’t found any. Finally, I have a video if her breathing but don’t know how to upload it.

Her Right Side is puffy. What does it look like under her wing, is it air filled? Do you see any bruising (greenish skin)?

I did check although not thoroughly and everything seemed fine no bruising or scratch marks. I’ll have to recheck her tomorrow with some help because she did start to flap around alot.
