I've recently named my coop "Azkhab-hen" and the one white hen who is a master escape artist got re-named "Sirius White". My kids are big Harry Potter fans, so this amuses them a great deal.
We name our chicken tractor PURDY
After our first chicken died.
Purdy was A farm store bought Australorp.
My 18yr old son and his girl friend bought two chickens at the farm store on his way to
Afganistan, before he deployed.
We had never had chickens before, and I never thought of chickens as pets.
We had no idea what to do with the two chickens, other then to keep them alive
until he got home. Late the summer I built a small chicken coop and added some
others hens and a guinea hen.
The next year we built a chicken coop barn and silo, painted it red. we call it
"The Bantam Barn". Our hen house is simple call the Hen House.
We loved Purdy 0r as we call her Purdy chicken.
we miss seeing her in the yard, so by putting her name on the side of the tractor it
serves as a daily reminder to her and her memories.
My son and his girl friend never claimed their chickens after his deployment, not that we would of ever given them up.
4 chicken coops in the back yard and 45+ chickens later, I think it safe to say we love chickens.
This is a great thread that has been brought back up. I was just telling my hubby that we need a name for our coop and he thinks I am crazy!!
So I was reading over everyone's ideas and then a name for our (still unfinished) coop came to mind. I see there is one very similar to what I have chosen just a few posts above, but I promise I came up with my name before I saw the one above.
Anyway our coop is a garden shed that has a gambrel roof (like an old barn) so we have decided to name it the "Breakfast Barn". I love it!!!
