Cluck! Cluck! It is heating up here in South Mississippi and I am moving my girls' chicken tractor and run to a cooler spot. I have been researching building a water feature for them and our rescue squirrel JJ. I was thinking about a kiddie pool and a fountain pump with something for them to stand on. They are more pets than anything.

I want them to be happy. :)

Has anyone else built their chickens a water feature? I would love some ideas.

Ok have a fountain pond thinking about putting it in the covered run .that way if need to I can get in the lot and clean it .this way they can either drink from it or play in it..and the best thing is it was free

Chickens can't swim...and you'll have to clean out that kiddie pool daily unless you want to propagate poop soup. Had and built ornamental ponds and fountains for years, would not want to clean poultry poop out of a water pump.

This is the best bet I've found for cooling chicken feet in hot weather.
BIG(9x14x3") ice chunks last all day, shallow pans easy to clean out.
