Probably a stupid question, but how do you update?Hopefully others will have some input. I would just update your thread in the morning so more people will respond.

Hoping someone with more experience than I do can tell what is going on here?
From my untrained and inexperienced eye I suspect EYP (egg yolk peritonitis).
I found her kidneys (I think those are her kidneys…?) water like and very pale.
((VERY VERY GRAPHIC VIDEO of chicken necropsy!!!))
First look I initially thought it was fat but after quite a bit of reading and googling- I’m thinking and identifying it could very well have been internal yolk covering her insides. I was hoping someone would be able share wisdom. There was no liquid. She has been sick for awhile, first it was fly strike which we fixed but then a penguin stance occurred, I suspected egg bound originally when I brought her in (but when examined there were no internal eggs as expected. The protrusions were all the yellow). It then became a prolapse which again, once examined were the yellow which covers everything as you can see from the video. I’ve only ever processed roosters so I am way out of my depth here. Also there has been no laying, as I suspected by her penguin stance she was egg bound so switched her food, I’d found nothing and she’s laid nothing for weeks. I expected to have found an egg or two when I looked but no.
I'm sorry about your hen.I was surprised to see so much yellow too, knowing how long she’s been in the “chicken hospital”. I couldn’t quite understand how she could have accumulated so much “fat”. So eyp made sense when I researched it abit more. But I wouldn’t know one from the other either. I didn’t like making the video but I thought someone would see something I can’t.
I think just add another question, comment or picture in the morning will do it.Probably a stupid question, but how do you update?
Thank you. And yes the liver was very pale and it was falling apart. So you think it is fat opposed to yolk deposits? It definitely felt like fat and from first glance I thought it was, it wasn’t an odd consistency like “cooked egg” would be like I’ve read in eyp, I just couldn’t understand how she’d accumulated so much. It was covering everything.I'm sorry about your hen.
It's always hard to take a look, but it can be informative and sometimes puzzling too.
I agree, the liver does look pale, it also looks like it's falling apart.
There's a lot of fat surrounding the organs, so I would also lean towards Fatty Liver Disease.
Note the layers of egg material you likely would have seen with EYP, it can vary in appearance, but usually not the consistency or feel of fat, it's more like layers of material or like a mass. You can still have more than 1 condition going on at the same time. Very often a hen that has organ dysfunction, also has reproductive problems (or vice versa).

Thank you. Her liver definitely wasn’t right from what I know and everything was covered in fat. You can see her heart and gizzard are riddled with it aswell as her intestines. Besides the little eggs that were found- nothing out of the ordinary consistency was in there no lash material. I had my suspicions of her illness but never expected whatever this is.I had one hen die of fatty liver disease. Her liver was pale or tannish color. There was a blood clot under the liver. There was 1.5-2 inches of fat under her skin. Yours has fat along the intestines even. I don’t see any lash material or salpingitis. To update your thread, just keep posting. The occasional treats when she was in the yard such as veges and seeds. She was in the yard daily. She’s been in “chicken hospital” though. First with fly strike (recovered) was reintroduced back with the flock and then a week later suffered a prolapse. She couldn’t catch a break this girl in “chicken hospital” she had a diet of raw egg, occasional poultry vitamin, a crumble or mix of pellets. What was her diet including any treats? Was she getting a balanced layer feed with limited extras? Did she get out to roam around in the yard daily? Fatty liver disease can be caused by hormones, high energy diet, especially carbs, calcium deficiency, lack of exercise, and sometimes mold/aflatoxin poisoning. Here is a decent article on FLD:
