chicken or duck?

As for pet's and socialness, which is better? im not concerned about looks, i just would like to know if a chicken can actually form a bond with me to the extent that it follows me.

Some chickens will follow you around. More will if they think you have treats. Not quite sure what you are looking for.

I have found that ducks imprint on you a bit easier. If you go on vacation or work full time, it is still very successful. But you don't want someone being under toe all the time either. I like chickens because they are quirkier, in my experience, but ducks have great spunk too. (Not muscovies, my muscovies aren't nearly as much fun as say a K Campbell.

Ducks are more known for this following behavior, but chickens will do it to. Drakes and Roosters will tend to keep the hens for themselves. So I guess you would have better odds with hens, whether duck or chicken. Both are semi social. Large flocks seem to break up when free range or wild, but not unusual to see large flocks of 15+ that stay close. Not quite sure what you are actually looking for. But they are not like domestic dogs. I have even seen people have a better social bonding with goat, pig, cow, deer, pet birds (parakeets, cocktails, etc.), and even rats VS duck or chicken. It has been done but it seems more of an oddity. You might be better with a duck vs chicken, but it would still be a shot in the dark. They all have differences in the behavior. So if you can find one that will follow you would not be the hard part....they all love to follow the one with the food......but the hard part would be to find one with more willing to please per say. Dogs do this more natural so they became "mans' best friend". Now if you just want pets that are friendly I would say go with chickens. All are not going to let you pick them up but will follow you around the yard and even fly on you head.
