I have a rooster, like he follows me around and comes running to me, that started with a slight limp on his right leg, it progressively got worse by day 4 where he couldn't walk on it. He has been dewormed, gets vitamins in his water, have given him a mix of chick starter and grower finisher. He was free ranging before this happened. I had also noticed a bloody poop about 4 days before that, then it went bright green. His poop was normal, but since he has been dewormed he has very watery poop. He is in a dog kennel in the garage so I can keep a close eye on him. He is bright and eating and is still talking to me. I am wondering what I can do for him, and does anyone have any idea as to what is going on?
He is a gold laced Wyandotte born July 2023. I have lost 4 other birds to this exact same progressive issue since fall 2023.
I am willing to try anything to save him.

Welcome To BYC

Can you post photos of him and his poop?

What did you deworm with - name of product, dose that was given and for how long.

Bloody poop, then bright green - have you treated for Coccidiosis and Enteritis?
Corid and Amoxicillin would be good choices.

Lastly, have you looked for injury, swelling of the leg, joint, any bruising, etc. that may be causing the limping?

Marek's disease does come to mind with his age.

here are pictures of him along with his poop. This is what was recommended to me at Cowtown, but i have corrid coming today. Thay dewormer was given for 2 days. I have checked his legs for i jury or swelling i dont see any, also checked for bumble foot. He is getting a vitamin supplement in his water now as well.

I'd try the vitamins and see if that helps.

If you've lost a few to the same progression, you may be dealing with Marek's disease.

You could try antibiotics just to see if those make a difference. Amoxicillin is a good choice. If you don't plan on processing him for food, then Baytril could be used.

If you do lose him, then sending the body to your state lab for analysis would give you the best information.
You can find your state lab here: https://www.metzerfarms.com/poultry-labs.html
