This is my beautiful 7 week old Pekin. About 4 days ago she started falling to her side and kicking her legs around not able to get up. They were all still in the brooder box (it's very large) I immediately seperated her from the others. She was falling to the side occasionally but could still walk fine when I stood her back up. I thought it was stress but since then she has lost all balance, last night she was falling backwards and sideways and sits with her legs out Infront of her. This morning she can't stand at all 😔 one leg is completely stuck out straight Infront, she is still moving her toes.

I started her on liquid vitamin and electrolyte supplement but she is drinking very little so I don't know how to get it into her.
She is a small breed and very young so I am concerned using a syringe due to aspiration.
I mixed some of the liquid vitamins into some corn and scrambled eggs, she ate them but she isn't taking enough of the liquid. (She needs to have 50mls in 24 hrs for a full dose)

I'm thinking it has to be B vitamins but open to suggestions. What can I do to increase her B vitamins asap? What else can I do to help her?
She has never been outside so I don't think it could be Mareks.
My feed contains vitamins and minerals and none of my other chicks are sick.

Can you get human B complex tablets today? Walmart has them for about $6–https://www.walmart.com/ip/Spring-V...MI37uKi56hjAMVok7_AR0ixDfPEAQYASABEgJksvD_BwE
Crush 1/4 to 1/2 tablet in a spoonful of water and give it to her with a dropper. What is the feed you are using? Chicks that age should not get corn.or other foods, beside their crumble feed unless they have chick grit. Could she have been hurt by a larger chicken?
Thanks! I'm not in America but I can certainly get B complex. I was concerned as the internet said it needed to be specific for poultry 🤷
Yeah she has grit in her normal crumble. I only gave her a small amount of corn/egg (about a tea spoon).
It's possible she could have been hurt. I wasn't thinking it was an injury by the way it's progressing though. Like I assumed if it was as injury it would have been bad right away.

Are her toes curled under, or has she been resting or walking on her hocks? Those are early signs of riboflavin. (B2) deficiency. A back injury could have made her lame. It is early for it to be symptoms of Mareks disease. It has occurred as young as 5 weeks, but normally it shows up later.

Her toes aren't curled under. Yesterday she was walking without standing up straight and would take a few steps forward then fall backwards. Now one leg won't bend at all today.
She doesn't scream or flap around when she is picked up or held.
Do you think the human B complex would do any harm? I will get one from the chemist and give her a 1/4 tablet, or less. I'm just worried because she doesn't weigh any more than about 200g. But I'm also pretty sure I'm going to lose her if I don't try something drastic today.

I'm just wondering how long after giving the B complex should I expect to see improvement? She has been on it for 4 days now and is not improving. Im Concerned for her quality of life as she is unable to move still. I have been moving her regularly, keeping her clean and hydrated. She is mostly content but does often try to move but flops to the side and becomes distressed.
She is also now also occasionally breathing with her beak open.
I'm more than happy to keep looking after her as I am, I just don't want to put her though this if the medicine isn't going to help.

I would give the human B complex. You cannot overdose her with 1/4-1/2 tablet daily. Crush it in a tsp of water and give it with a dropper over the day. Your chick vitamin, does it have D or E in it? I hope the chick improves.

Try treating for vitamin D deficiency as keeping them inside for 7 weeks deprives them of natural sunlight which causes severe issues that can mimick Mareks Disease.

And check the milling date/best before on your feed bag as the vitamins quickly lose effectiveness and the feed should be used within 6 months max.
Ok I will try vitamin D also. I wasn't aware people took them out of the brooder for visits outside until after 6 weeks. They were also Infront of a window, not in a dark room or shed or anything.
Yeah my feed bag is fine.

Yes thanks, she is very small (150/200g) I have been giving her a 1/4 tablet of B complex for 4 days now with no improvement. When should I expect to see some improvement do you think?
Her normal feed has Vitamins A,B,D,E and K along with calcium and other essential minerals.
