Hi. My pet chicken of 7 years hadn't been acting too well, today the vet diagnosed her with a tumor, there isn't a high chance of her making it, but we have some medicine to help. Im just wondering if any of you have had chickens with tumors recover. Right now Im just trying to make sure she feels comfortable and loved. Thank you.

Sorry about your hen. Where is the tumor? Did they feel a mass, or did they xray it? Unfortunately cancer can be common in hens who live a long life. It can be common after the age of 2. But lash eggs can be found in the abdomen as well, and might feel like a tumor. I hope you have your hen for a long time.

thank you. they felt a mass around her crop/ breast area. I wish it was a lash egg, but she hasn't played in a couple years.

Sorry to hear about your hen..I tend to go natural route and meds when necessary.
I know of some who had success with Frankincense essential oil( a quality brand I use Revive EO no joining anything and free s&h I buy their organic Frankincence very, very reasonable) rubbing into area and depending on sz of waterer added drops to water, changed the food up and added healthy scraps.. got rid of corn out of the affected hen most had success.. they found it right away. Powdered Vit C in their drinking water is great for them I use that and Braggs ACV I alternate 1 wk on 1 off. We grow a garden and keep them in all kinds of varied scraps/veges. Hope this helps.. wishing you and your hen all the best.

UPDATE: we had her on pain meds and she was doing alright, she got to go to the harden and house every day, lots of love, fresh fish, scrambled eggs, yoghurt, oats, and worms which she loved. As well as little massages.I'd say her last few days were pretty great for her. We checked on her 2 times this morning the first one she was alright, and the second we sadly found that she had died, she seemed as though she died peacefully in her sleep. Her friend is heartbroken, and so are we.
