Welcome at BYC and the phenomenon you are experiencing when you got to the tractor/feed store is called Chicken Math. You always end up with more chickens that you planned on and even if you planned on possibly more, it's even more than that. I started out with 6, through deaths and visits to the tractor supply, we ended up with 11 pullets
