Chickens & Ticks

No idea if true, but we did just get 10 guineas for our ticks. We have 20 chicks going out this weekend and I inagined that they eat them, will have to verify the death of them once disposed. Seems crazy!

Ticks is why I have chickens, they eat them, they are gone, it works (chickens eat rocks and grind them up, a tick will most certainly get ground up). Before I put the birds on the yard I had to poison constantly, have not seen a tick in the yard for several years now, and no more poisons. Mud daubers eat ticks too!

That's what I thought. The ticks passing thru the gizzard would be ground up just like everything else they eat.

I can tell you that my birds free range my property when hawk load permits. My neighbor across the street is plagued with ticks. Last season I pulled 1 off me, and several off the dog. Neighbor had them crawling up his legs repeatedly. Other folks in my area are plagued with them. I find that farmer's statement to be quite doubtful. Now, to read the article.
