Chickens & Your Home Owner's Insurance--Did You Know?

Settin'_Pretty :

Depends on the state.
In Idaho it's just the opposite, if you hit a horse or cow or whatever on the road it's your fault.
go figure.

Clearly that state expects people to be in control of their vehicles and certainly enough to see something the size of a cow or a horse...I agree myself. There are those rare occasions when it is unavoidable but most often people are just flying and not paying attention.

That's what I think, too... But then again, I'm a Southern California girl myself, and we love our fences. It's odd to NOT see a fence around here.

Ok but I'll take the male part of this statement.

I"m headed to Fl. tomorrow & driveing a big-rig to Houston & then back to So Ca. & it always amazes me the shortage of fences compared to So. Ca.

Several years ago a lady hit 2 black angus cows at night. I can see not seeing those cows on a dark night. Or if they ran out in front of her. More people hit deer here than cows or horses though.

Could you imagine Norco without fences? We'd have horses, chickens, dogs, cows, camels, llamas.... all over the place!

It's always a tragedy when someone is accidentally killed, especially when it's caused by the negligence of others. I meant no disrespect when I said "who can't see a cow". It's just that I know some people will go out of their way to injure or kill an animal and I wonder how many more would do it if they thought they could profit from it.

I, myself, came around a sharp turn and met a calf in the road. Neadless to say, we were both startled!

My own experience has been with deer. I've hit THREE with the same car. Hunters have the nerve to say there aren't any deer come deer season!...Geez, it's because I've hit them all! I wonder if the state is liable?
