Hi everyone - any help on this will be really appreciated. I bought an 8 week old chick and it’s leg is completely out sideways! It is happy and manages to get around fine but is walking on it’s hock with its foot out to a 90o angle. It has use of its foot for scratching, etc but cannot use it to walk on without it flipping out and raising up. At first I thought a slipped tendon because you can feel a grind/small pop when you extend the leg - but I braced it and the whole leg still turns out sideways. Could this be a rotated femur? I can’t get a picture until this arvo and vets in my area are useless with poultry (I have to tell them what is wrong and what I need). Here is a really bad example of an overhead view of her to give you all an idea of what I mean until I get home

haha - it’s terrible but that is how the foot sits when she is walking. It’s floppy and lifts up if she is walking on long grass. My gut says it is a slipped tendon but the whole leg turning when braced and taped really confused me. Any help will be amazing!! Thank you in advance!

How was the leg up until now? Did she walk normally? It sounds like a twisted leg, one of several leg bone deformities, including varus valgus deformity, and others. Those may occur in one leg or both. Most of these are not treatable unfortunately. I know of no vets who could treat this.
