My old shed was a chicken coop, I had to give my girls away due to a rotten roof and raccoons kept getting in.

It's been 2 years since I had them, between rot and rats chewing we basically replaced half of the shed to make my coop back to usable again. I didn't know much back than and have learned a lot about mites and lice, etc... I had a few with scalley leg mites which I treated, but I didn't realise until they lived in the coop for months. With starting fresh again, I like to clean it really good, there was mold which I believe we replaced all the wood that was moldy in our rebuild. I was thinking of cleaning it good and spraying it down with vinegar incase there's anything left mites or mold living I can not see. I beliit be safe for the chickens, and I don't have them yet so I figured if I gave it a good clean and spray, ai could let it dry out for a few weeks before looking for my new flock.

What do you guys think? I just don't want any issues once I get more. Fingers crossed!

Your roof is watertight now?
Is all your ventilation installed and backed with 1/2" hardware cloth?
Do you have all your windows in?
I'd make sure all the construction is done first before bothering to clean.

Scrape everything down, shop vacuum thoroughly then spray with a permethrin spray for premise. You can buy a bottle of concentrated permethrin then dilute per the label instructions for use on premise into a garden pressure sprayer and spray all the old surfaces. Put a floor fan on it to dry it for a day or 2 then dilute some Odoban and spray the old surfaces again to disinfect them and leave the fan running for another couple days turning it as needed to really get everything good and dry. Then bed with fresh bedding and you're ready to go.
