Hello everyone! I’m Cluckadude-aloo and I am so happy to be here! I’m a Nurse Practitioner who lives in Tampa Bay. I am privileged to work at one of the finest Cancer Research and Surgery hospitals in Tampa and I love my job!
Ok, on with the chicken dossier!
1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens?
Brand new to chickens.
(2) How many chickens do you have right now?
Zero. My plan is a total of 5 as that is what is allowed in my suburban backyard. However, chicken math. It’s a thing.
(3) What breeds do you have?
I’m interested in the Rhode Island Reds, the Orpingtons and those cutie patootie Silkies.
(4) What are your favorite aspects of raising backyard chickens?
My first thought was eggs! But chickens are so much more than that. I look forward to them getting to know me and me them.
(5) What are some of your other hobbies?
Too many to count! Building things. Hydroponics. Gardening. Yard work. Reading.
(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share.
I’m married (10 years this year!) have two sons, now grown and moved away. Had a dog last year but he passed away after an illness. I live 15 minutes from the beach, and love living in Florida.
(7) Bonus: How did you find BYC, how long have you known about BYC, and what made you finally join our awesome community?
I stumbled across it quite by accident. Facebook chicken groups have a lot of great people, but also a fair number of trolls and scammers. Back in the day I used to run a BBS (old school Bulletin Board System based on a computer format very similar to this!) so this is like coming home.
