Cockatiel fluffed up all day

I got a one year old cockatiel a few days ago from a mildly abusive household (very tiny cage in a very small apartment, was often grabbed or smacked, fed Doritos?) and we have noticed that he has been more lethargic than cockatiels usually are. He does some laps around the house a few times a day and has pretty much free range of wherever he wants to go, but mostly he just sits on top of his cage puffed up with his eyes half closed or closed. We aren’t sure if it’s becuase he’s cold or if he’s just tired from flying so much when he hasn’t been able to for his whole life or if he’s very I’ll. He has still been preening a lot and eating/drinking a good amount, but he’s also gotten a lot quieter today then he was yesterday and it’s gotten me a little worried. Sorry for rambling, haha

Oh gosh, I am so glad you rescued him, poor dear. How is he today? Is he eating and drinking OK?
