Color washing off eggs

So I have two marans chickens, one blue, one wheaten. I like to wash my eggs just with a washcloth under running water before putting them in the fridge. I have noticed that one of the marans has the dark color that withstands the quick washing just fine and the other will wash completely away to just a regular light brown shade with the most minimal wiping. And I can’t tell which egg is which until I start washing. Does anyone have any tips on getting the pretty dark color to stay through the gentle wash?

Yep, that can happen with some very dark layer coatings.
I don't worry about it, mostly I don't wash my eggs, but if I do they taste just as good.
Maybe you want to be selling them?

Yes, I know it can happen. And mostly I don’t mind, I was just curious if there was a way to make the color adhere better before washing, (like if I let them sit longer before the wash, or if I washed with warm vs cold water or something,) if anything would change it at all. I just like a colorful basket and yes I like the few eggs I sell to be as colorful as possible too!

Letting them sit longer might help, try it.
Not using anything remotely abrasive would definitely help.
I just use my hands if an egg is dirty and always use water warmer than the egg to prevent contraction drawing in bacteria.
Tho I have noticed that if some 'moist' poop gets on the egg it will kinda of dissolve the coating.
