commonly know as "Coaching Hens"

Some one would like to give me some "coaching hens".. all I know is that they have feathers on their feet and are small.. anyone know what official name of the breed? I can't find any information on "Coaching Hens"

ya'll are wonderful!!!!! I am relatively new to chickens with my Buff Orphingtons and more familiar with standard breeds because of my interest in adding to my flock..

Looked at Bantam as just a glance.. never made the connection in the spelling..lol..

The largefowl are fluffy round basketballs

The bantams are fluffy round soccer balls (about a size 4). Orpingtons are also basketballs, especially in colouring

BTW, no "h" in orpington.

Be careful adding new chickens to your flock. The new hens (and sometimes the original ones) can carry disease, and in some cases the original hens can kill the newcomers if not introduced correctly. There are lots of threads on adding new chickens to an existing flock.

Yep The breed is called a Cochin but its pronounced like " Coachin"

Sarol - I had heard about being really careful and was not interested in getting them for myself since I will soon have over 30 eggs in the incubator and an order for 25 in the spring.. ..just wanted to know what they were so I could offer to my neighbor.. thank you for the information though.
