Congo peacock

I think there are just a few at zoos. I am not sure about any being in personal collections. I think they have to be kept in a very tropical type setting so they definitely need heat.

I just searched www.zoochat.com and found a photo of a pair at the San Antonio Zoo and the photo was taken last year: http://www.zoochat.com/603/congo-peafowl-345181/

Also another one at the Bronx Zoo:

I have never seen or heard of a regular backyard bird breeder or large scale bird breeder having them though.

Here are the other photo search results from zoochat. There are some other zoos with congo peafowl: http://www.zoochat.com/search.php?searchid=2812070

Thanks, knew a few zoos had them. In the 70's they were thought to be becoming establishedin captivity, but that ddoesn't seem to have come to fruition. With the increase in roul-rouls that have similar care thought they may have been doing better than they seem tobe doing.

Yes I noticed that roul-rouls seem to be getting more common to see. If you find of anyone keeping them other than a zoo let us know, but even bird breeders that I know of who breed all sorts of exotic birds or hard to raise birds like ocellated turkeys don't seem to have them.

Actually I might have just found the answer to your question on another forum: http://www.gbwf.org/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=17&t=8236&p=13732&hilit=congo+peafowl#p13732

In the journal Aviornis International (October 2003) it was asked to menbres the species and the number of birds they have .
A Belgian had a report that he had Congo peacocks .( private people )..... more than 10 years later ????

The Zoo of Antwerpen (Belgium) organizes the studbook of the Congo peafowl in captivity in zoos all around the world.
