We are having this trouble too. An Orpington mix who has been a fanatical broody before (to the point of not eating or drinking). Two months ago, after an unsuccessful set, we got her some babies, and she was a wonderful mother. However, now she's gone broody again. We can't handle any more chicks!
We have been removing her from the nest box. So now she is setting on the grass in the open.
I have never tried the prison method. She was so persistent the last time that we were concerned for her health. Went about 35 days before we got her some chicks.
