Converting a dog run

Thank you! That’s what I was wondering. Sounds great. I’m actually not sure of the primary wind direction but I do think having the fences on two sides will help as well.

Would leaving a bit of space above the ground also provide too much air flow? I think that might help keep the walls cleaner and protect them from any moisture in the ground.
Since you're in a moderate/warmer climate that might be a good idea, as I've seen coops for warmer climates designed with open venting towards bottom as well. I figure even if there's a wind storm at night, the birds will be up on the roosts above that, so they're out of the way of any direct winds.

If it turns out to not be ideal (too much chimney effect directing air upwards) you could always board up most the lower openings after the fact.
Yeah I’m not a fan of it either. Do you know of any other ways to protect it? I haven’t been able to find any. 😕
Concrete pad, which I also wouldn't recommend under a run due to drainage, or a concrete bumper instead of an apron, though I'm not sure how far down it would need to go to deter rats/gophers.

I have a mole issue myself, I trap them as I can but they're such good burrowers that there's no apron wide enough to stop them.

Building the run from the plans is coming along. 👍

But this excavation and putting the hardware cloth underneath was the worst part so far. I am so tired. 😓 I really wish an apron would have worked. Please tell me this is all going to be worth it. 😅😭

Praise the Lord the coop is finally done! 🙌🙏❤️ And the chickies seem to love it. 🥰
