Coop finally done- Check out my pics. Girls seem to like it!

Nice size for a backyard coop. You should draw up plans and post on the coop page. I also like the hardware cloth under the roof we did the same thing I feel very secure and lots of ventilation.
We live in the middle of the woods and so far no predators. We have a 24 in skirt around the perimeter also. Again nice job!

You said you did the hardware cloth roof too. Any worries of bats roosting up under the roofing panels between that and the hardware cloth?

Didn't give that any thought. Thanks for bringing it to my attention. I have some more hardware cloth- Maybe I can cut small pieces and put it in at the edge of the roof panels so they can not enter there. I really would not want any bats in there but are they a predator in any way? Would a bat hurt a chicken or is it just a pest?

Your coop is similar to ours, but I like your roof much better! Regular shingles made our coop so heavy. I also like the way your hardware cloth and metal roof add extra ventilation. I am sure your girls will enjoy their great home!

Yes the Ondura roofing is much less heavy. That is the main reason I used it. The extra ventilation is a bonus. I like your flower box by the window! Makes it look more like home. Maybe I will add one in the spring.

I think you did a jam up great job! Do you plan on letting them roam free? I didnt know at first, but they will actually put themselves away.. if you wait too long to put them in at evening time. Smarter than most people think. I've even trained mine to stay off the porch! Your girls are very pretty.
