Hello,
I am trying to figure out the average FCR for Cornish Hens and how to explain it as simple as possible. I have seen a lot of numbers that don't add up. I just read that average FCR is 2.5:1 to 3:1 so a 7 lb bird would have eaten 15-18 lbs of food. Wouldn't It be 17-21 lbs of food? Can someone please explain how it equals 15-18 lbs of food?

Sure. Your source is doing bad math.

If the FCR is between 2.5 and 3 :1, one would expect a 7# bird to consume between 17.5 and 21# of feed to reach that weight. Just as you calculated.

Thank you that’s what I figured. SO many sources online do bad math. It’s really bizarre and I thought I was the one misunderstanding it.lol!
