I had my flock come down with what the vet said seemed to be mycoplasma. We treated with Tylan powder through water and everyone but the newest chicken I purchased has gotten better. (I did quarantine) She is young. Sweetest girl I have ever had. She is a zombie that I paid a lot of money for. Maybe 3 to 4 months. She seems to have coryza. She has little appetite. I have her separated and inside alone as they were bullying her when she became sick. She has major eye drainage. Slight eye swelling. Major nasal swelling.
I am giving her tylosin powder through syringe.
I am giving her an egg yolk a day through syringe and one cooked egg a day.
I am putting antibiotic eye ointment on her.
I also have a pink antibiotic from the vet that starts with Sulfa I started giving 2 days ago. It seems to have helped her improve some.
I am applying Vet RX to her nasal openings and under wings.
I am willing to take her back to the vet next week if needed. He wouldnt give me doxy as he said it is off label.

Any suggestions or if I wind up back at the vet, what should I ask for? He is a huge help but knows little about chickens as he is a horse vet.
Wyattorp I am sorry for bugging you so much :)

Just for your information, you can tell if a chicken has Coryza if there is an unmistakable foul odor around the head area along with similar symptoms as with Mycoplasma Gallisepticum (MG).
Sulfadimethoxine in combination with Tylan or another antibiotic will treat Coryza.
Tylan or Denagard (Tiamulan) will specifically treat MG.

Both diseases are easily spread to other birds. Birds with either disease are carriers for life and will spread the disease to other birds. You must keep a closed flock. No new birds in, no birds out. No selling nor giving away birds. MG passes through the egg to hatching chicks. No selling eggs nor giving away eggs to be hatched.
Your other option is to cull. Then disinfect inside coops, feeders, waterers, roosts, nest boxes. Wait at least 6 months before repopulating if it's Coryza, 1 month if it's MG.

She doesn't smell. My husband said she just smells like a chicken. My smell is messed up since covid. I don't sell anything or give away any birds. They are my pets so I won't be culling. She just has bubbly eyes and swollen nostrils. The other girls sounded gurgley but she doesn't. The vet just assumed mycoplasma. Maybe it's just a worse case or hitting her harder since she's young.

I'm glad it's not Coryza, it is a nasty disease, literally.
I recommend that you continue treatment with the Tylan and hopefully she will improve. Do your best to make sure she eats and drinks via syringe as necessary to keep up her strength.
Probios dispersible powder sprinkled as a top dressing on feed will help promote good gut bacteria and strengthen her immune system. It can be found in feed stores in the cattle section. You can give it to your other birds as well.

Thank you so much! Should I take her back to the vet for anymore meds?
