So my barred rock had what a vet thought was coryzea (this vet is family and lives out of state, he diagnosed and help treat via photos and videos). She was on doxycycline which took the abscess away but her eye was still closing a lot. She then went on veraflox (stronger antibiotic), with no avail. She is eating, drinking & laying and otherwise very healthy. I feel bad because she rubs her eye and it is closed a lot, making it clear it is bothering her/possibly still filled with mucus (but not swollen). My question is has anybody used terramycin eye ointment with success in a case like this? I can get it without prescription. Thanks

I have a chicken with constantly closed eye, filled with yellow pus. I am using lincomycin, which seems to help slowly though. Same as you, my chicken is eating, drinking and happy. Today I put for the first time eye drops tobrakulin, will see how is he tomorrow.

Can you post some photos of her and the eye?

If she's got pus in the eye, flush with saline, press out the pus and apply an eye ointment (Terramycin is o.k.). Do this 2-3 times a day.

Infectious Coryza is a contagious respiratory disease. Reportedly it has a bad odor - does she smell bad? Infectious Coryza symptoms are usually treated with Sulfa antibiotics, but your vet may recommend other treatments.
Respiratory viruses usually won't respond to antibiotics and have to run their course.
Keep in mind that birds with respiratory disease will be carriers for life.

My problem is I cant See any puss so I’m unsure if that’s why her eye is closing but I’m just assuming. She has no discharge or anything anymore either. She also doesn’t smell abnormal. So do you think this is something that should run it’s course? It’s been 2 months of the eye looking like this, she does open it for longer periods of time but will close it like this every few minutes.

I am not a vet, but if there is no bad smell and the eye is not swollen, could it be something different, not coryza?

it definitely could be especially since a vet hasn’t diagnosed her in person. I’m still at a loss of how to help since we’ve flushed it twice with saline :(
