Coturnix quail eggs are on day 19?

The moma of my unborn chicks has died today. She was just 6 months old. She was tge biggest of all my quail. I have 7 of her eggs in my homemade incubator. I hope all of them will be fine.

Do you know what caused her death? 6 months doesn't seem very old.

No, I don't know what happened to her. But she had a swollen foot for two days. She had become very protective of herself and was attacking all the quails, even her buddy and the male, she won't let him mate. And kept moving here and there desperately. Obviously she had some kind of pain.other members here told me that her foot was not as bad to cause her death. Maybe, it was just fate. But I am happy that I have her babies(hatching soon). They were supposed to hatch on 23 but some of them have pipped internally and some externally.

Italy is maturing quickly, and since this hatch, we’ve welcomed new Silver babies in, too!
I’ve never feather sexed a quail, but she is looking pretty speckled to me! Would your guess be that it is a female? Also, all of her yellow baby fuzz is getting replaced by white and black feathers. Would this mean she is considered a “Pearl”, or that she is a “Fee”? I’m new to terminology when it comes to the different color variations of Coturnix.
