someone hatched 16 eggs for me - I ordered 4 each of 4 breeds, and out of the 16, only one is the breed I chose! So I have 15 mystery chicks, now about 7 weeks old. I have been able to identify 3 sulmtaler wheaten pullets, and they are big and fluffy. This fellow has the same white legs, a smaller crest, the taletell s curve in the comb, but he is so sleek in his body, so unlike the pullets.

Anyone know if he could be a sulmtaler roo?
Here's a pic of the pullet:

and here is the roo:

thanks for the help!

I dont think so I dont know if they come in more than one variety, as I know just about nothing about the breed. But all the roos I have seen look like this....btw this isnt my pic got it from google

y;es, I've only seen pics of the dark colored sulmtaler rooster, but the wheaten variety comes in roos, too - just can't find a pic past the day old chick stage.

I'm wishing I could find a pic of the wheaten rooster sulmtaler. He's a very gentle roo, that is for certain.
If he isn't sulmtaler, I wonder what the heck he is? the woman who hatched eggs was trading eggs and doing heritage breeds.
thanks for all the input!

I don't have any splash, yet. I have eggs from my blue wheatens cooking so some of them will most likely be splash. I'll post pictures if I get some splash chicks.

Sulmtalers are recognized in wheaten and white (if I remember correctly). I have blue wheaten. GFF has gold duckwing. Some of us have some (mostly) red, though I don't know if anyone is working on improving the red Sulmtalers.

thanks. I'm getting some response that he is a splash wheaten sulmtaler, some that he is a mix. if the breeder who supplied the eggs didn't get things mixed up, he should be a purebred, but..a purebred what? for now I'll go with sulmtaler.
