Coyote Patrol

LOL all. The best defence to any predator is a good coop. Build a good coop and you don't need to worry any predators. I had coyotes visit my birds a few weeks ago and they left knowing that they couldn't get in. Few ruffled feathers from the birds was thier only damage. Coyote really tried to get in with no luck. I'll stick to my version as long as it keeps everything safe.

Does anyone know of a trap that will work on them successfully? I have tried large live traps with no success. These come around at 3:00 am and it is hard to stay up that late to try to shoot them. Plus you never really see them you only hear them yapping and howling.

Snare Traps work very very well. Not that i would know. Because I think they are not legal Where I live.
But lets just say The coyote population is way down around here for some reason.
Snares are cheap to buy also. But if you or your neighbours have dogs loose you don't want to set snares.

Leg traps are so so SO cruel.. i cant even imagine how painful it is. There is a reason they are illegal in MA. This is just MY opinion...whatever you do is your business..

I would much rather use lead but it's not easy with coyotes they are smarter than people think.
When my neighbours 4 year old was playing in the yard and there was a coyote 50 feet away
looking at him we knew something had to be done. Are traps cruel.Yes. I agree. But when you are
overrun with coyotes you have to do something before the unthinkable happens.

I do understand your concern..we also have a pack of 5 on our road that are not afraid of humans anymore...
and they are BIG ones.

although...since the the town blew up a bomb in the middle of the night(dont ask...LOL) in the sand-pitts where they live, we havent heard much of them lately...
so i think the loud noise really scared them off....hope they'll stay away...they've been here for years and years though...

Deb what you need to do is kill one of the coyotes then tie it's carcass to your fence. The other coyotes see it and stay away. Where we live now there's cows and other livestock farms all over. I just saw a strung up coyote last month. All the ranchers swear by it.
