Crochet Pattern wanted - Chicken Purse

It does look like feathers! How beautiful.

It looks like you did the base then went back and did the feathers later with about 20 DC's...Maybe. Maybe I will try it as well. I agree I like the crochet better than plastic.

There's 8 dc's around each dc post. And yes the feathers are done after the base pattern is complete. I did a few just for an example.

So far I have ch 207, turn work 2 dc in 7th ch from hook, ch 5, 2 dc's in 5 ch from hook across, ch 7, (turn work) 2 dc in nx loop, ch 5, 2 dc's in nx lp and so on until you get the desired width of the purse. I am thinking 12 inches. Oh you should have 40 dc groups on that first row. Your rows should measure about 20 inches or around if you are using size 10 crochet cotton and a size 8 hook. This is the sides and bottom of the purse.

Just want to add if you would rather I make a new thread let me know. I don't mean to intrude on your posts. Here's a few pictures of the structure in the early stages.

This is the sides and bottom. One piece folded. When it is finished it will have either a basket on the bottom..real basket or just a piece of cardboard put in the lining. Not sure where I will go with it. Yet.

This is the end of the piece so you can see the edge.

Lastly this one is the shape. Well sort of. Once it is full of stuff it will bow out. If that doesn't work maybe a piece of cardboard in a chicken shape would be ok.

Every place you see 2 dc's, that will be a feather. 2 dc=1 feather.
