Crocheters Thread

Pics
Somehow, I just found this thread. I have been crocheting for about 4 years now. I learned so I could make bonnets for the horses I ride, then that snowballed into amigurumi, then spinning, knitting, nalbinding, and weaving. I have designed and published a few crochet patterns.

Some of my makes:
Monster caddy, pattern book by Crafty Intentions, finished this today

A stocking I designed and wrote a pattern for, it's published now.

Wow! Those are some impressive pieces! ✨

I am working on testing a new pattern for Crafty Intentions. I tested one version of it late last year, then she invited me to test another version of it! I'm glad I get to test again, the first one was all sorts of floppy because I couldn't get the right kind of wire and didn't wire it.
Its legs all turn to the left, wings are floopy. The only wire in it is the spine. I'm not the best at brushed out, fluffy accessories, so the floofy bits are not so floofy and a little sad.

Just stumbled on this thread. Very talented people and some beautiful creations!
I attempted to learn how to crochet on a number of occasions. With each person they would get impatient with me, take the needles from my hands along with the thread and say, "no like this", and then proceed to stitch themselves. Both were relatives so maybe that was the problem. I gave up trying to learn and gave away two 40 gallon bags of yarn. Wish I would have kept it to attempt it once more.
How does one learn how to crochet anyway? I've tried to learn from an instructional book with pictures and that didn't work either. Perhaps I'm not cut out for it.

I learned from youtube. The only thing I was taught in person was how to hold the piece in one place so it wasn't twirling around the hook not doing anything. Books are hard from me to learn from. I tried to learn to nalbind from a book and I couldn't figure it out as well as I could by watching a video.

I learned how to crochet from watching YouTube videos! There is lots of great content on there. I think visual learning is usually easier for beginners than trying to follow written instructions. 🤔
Please don't feel discouraged. With proper instruction, I'm sure you would be great at it! ✨
