Also I have not tried the crop cocktail, but I'll look it up. I know nothing has worked so far, but like I said before, I'm willing to fight a little more for her! Thanks again for sharing!I’m sorry about Truffles. It’s never an easy decision to make. We decided it was time to let Mole go when she was losing weight and also cut herself by kicking the crop. The skin had become stretched so thin. Those 2 factors drove our decision.
My understanding is that if you do get a crop bra that works for her, she’ll have to wear it forever. I think once a crop gets this pendulous, it won’t spring back.
Have you tried the crop cocktail of cayenne, cinnamon, and ginger mixed with lemon juice? It’s on a thread here somewhere. It didn’t work for Molé, but it has helped other crops. I also had good luck with ACS with another hen who’d had long-term crop issues (but wasn’t pendulous). If you’re looking for more advice, you should start your own thread.
Chickens do bond deeply, but they’re also adaptable. I think your other hen will be fine if you have to say goodbye to Truffle. As long as she has other hens to keep her company.
I wish I had something more helpful or hopeful to say. She’s a beautiful girl.
