A crop bra needs to be made of a tightly woven material to hold up the crop, crochet is lose and may be warm to wear. Denim works really well. A 4X4 inch patch for a standard sized hen, with 4 straps at either corner. The top right strap goes over the right shoulder, the lower left strap comes up under and crosses the back to meet the top right. Same with the other two straps, top left over the back, lower right under and over, forms a big X on the back. Tighten just enough to support the crop, you should be able to get your hand under the straps but not so loose the bird will get tangled.
