Crop bra heat safety question

I have an Easter egger with pendulous crop issues. We had her in a crop bra for a month and took it off on weekends so she could dust bathe and preen. We left it off for a couple weeks to see how things were emptying and all was well. Fast forward to yesterday where Temps were over 110 and her crop is quite full this morning. I am worried about overheating in the crop bra. Does anyone have experience with this in summer heat?

Why don't you try just having her wear the crop bra at night? That may be enough to keep the crop moving adequately.

Where are you with those hideous temps? A trick I use when it's very hot is to dampen the run sand so the chickens have cool damp places to dirt bathe in, thus transferring excess body heat to the cooler sand. Chickens shed body heat through their combs and wattles and also from the breast area and under the wings. If the bra must be worn during the heat of the day, the crop isn't going to make a lot of difference in body parts available to exchange heat.

West Texas. I am not a native Texan but married one. We are moving as soon as he retires. That is a fabulous idea about wearing it at night. I am definitely misting the run often and freezing some moistened feed, and frozen water bottles for their water. They are totally shaded in their run so that helps. They are mostly happy all day. They do rest in deeper shade a bit more than 85 or 90 temps. Thank you!
