culling / butchering and me

It is a very tough part of chicken keeping. My advice, don't let them molt, and grow new feathers. I did this year, and now they all look so fancy in their new feathers...I just don't fee justified in culling them.

I will say this, there are some people that like an older bird, they don't want a lot of eggs, just some eggs. Sometimes that can help get them out of your flock.

I am out of home canned chicken broth and chicken soup... I will want to hatch chicks this spring and summer... I need to reduce the flock.

Can I do it? Yes! Have I done it? Many times. Am I dragging my feet? Yes. It happens to us all.

Chickens raised by yourself are the best. Just recently uploaded an educational video on YouTube on how to slaughter a chicken for people who are just getting started, or learning before getting chickens for meat purposes.

I haven't needed to Age/Rest mine for any amount of time as they never went into Rigor Mortis. Not entirely sure what I'm doing to prevent it, but I'm gonna keep doing it.
I would love to see your video. Can you post the link or the title. Thanks in advance.
