I have a 3-week-old Speckled Sussex chick and she has three lightly bleeding wounds from being pecked at, so I didn't know if there was anything else I could do other than separate her along with someone who does not peck her, or if there was something better I could do for her. Also, the same chick has feathers that are curling and sticking out! The first 3pics are of her wounds then the others are of her curly and sticking out feathers. One of the wounds is really not much but I think you get the point, she needs help!

Just keep her safe until she heals. Usually that means separating, or putting something like Blukote on the pecked spots (it disguises the red blood.)

They look fairly normal to me. Could she be cold? Chickens fluff up their feathers when they are cold, trying to trap more warm air next to their skin. Chickens who just feel miserable or sick do too, so it could be a reaction to the injuries (from having been pecked.)

Edit: now I spot a feather or two sticking out sideways in the fourth photo. I wouldn't worry about that. Feathers can get bent or broken, but just a few are not a big deal. The chick will be molting those feathers in a few weeks and growing another set, so you don't need to do anything about it.

Do your chicks have enough room? Food? Establishing a pecking order is normal, but that's pretty extreme punishment. Make sure it gets enough clean water and high quality protein.

She is not fluffing her feathers her wing and shoulder feathers are actually curving. Could it be anything genetic or to do with a sickness?

Lots of feathers have a bit of a curve to them, as they go around a curved chicken.

If you're seeing something different on her than on your other chicks, then I don't know what is going on. I'm not noticing it. I know that many things look different in person than in a photo, so me not seeing it in a photo doesn't prove anything either way.

I'll tag a few other people, to see if they know more.

Do you see anything odd with the feathers on this chick?

They are a little tight on space but it is because they have been in it for 3 weeks now and they are getting bigger but there coop will be here in about 2 weeks. They do have enough food and I have her separated with a buddy.

Yeah, it does look quite different in the picture but thanks for your help!

I would not worry too much about it since her feathers are still growing in. But make sure they have enough room and things to get into, to practice roosting, and not keep the light too bright.
We have definitely had to get creative to lift the light higher when they tell us they are hot. And thank you! It would be cool if she had some unique type of feathers so I can tell the two that are the same breed apart 😆 So I would be fine if they stayed or went away as long as she is healthy!

Hi again everybody! I wish I did not need to write again but here is my new situation. Last light there were2 birds that made every singe lone of the other ones bleed (minor) and so we separated them in a different box and put all of the wounded in the original box. Bot overnight one of the ones that was separated stripped the other ones back and now her entire back is bare! What do I do now! The one with the stripped back does not like being alone but that is howitzer has to be for now, but how can I get her warmer when she is by herself and what can I do for the wound I will post a pic but I hope it looks worse than it really is! Thank you guys so much! Also, I will post a pic of the setup. And is that little washcloth chicky hut enough to keep her warm at 3 weeks old?
