I saw this as well earlier this week. I disagree with you on this point but I do see where you're coming from. I really enjoyed the film. I must confess I teared up a little at the end...it was very touching. I really loved that the characters weren't on their cell phones the entire time as I've seen in some recent movies. I will say that if you liked the first one you will definitely like the second one. The theme is actually pretty complex and deeply thoughtful. Maybe too difficult for kids to wrap their heads around but not the adults.
 
Dream scenario- this movie has a LOT to say about social media and cancel culture. Not too artsy that it can go over you're head but artsy enough for the casual tourist walking into an art museum who tilts their head and says, "huh...I think I get it.". I really enjoyed it if for nothing else the uniqueness of the concept. Has some graphic and at times frightening imagery so not for the little ones

I liked that movie too!
 
Today we saw "Thelma". The story of a grandmother who fell victim to the 'Your grandson is in prison and you need to send money scam'. Her reaction and attempt to track down the scammers makes for some good humor and laughs. We both go 3.5 stars on this film.

Haven't heard of that one but I've heard of this scam. There's even some scammers that utilize AI to make it sound like your loved one's voice.
